What is P-Con?

The Phoenix Convention, is a science fiction, fantasy and horror convention, with an emphasis towards the literary ends of the genres. P-Con II, the second Phoenix Convention, will take place in the Ashling Hotel, Parkgate St., Dublin 8 on the 13th and 14th of November, 2004.

The Guest of Honour at P-Con II is Juliet E McKenna and other guests (at present) include Ariel (editor of the Alien Online), Paul Cornell, Diane Duane, Maggie Furey, James P Hogan, Katherine Kurtz, Peter Morwood, John W Sexton, Charlie Stross & Steve Westcott with more to follow.

  • Site Update:Paypal Problem
    There was a problem with the Paypal page that made it impossible to connect to the Paypal site. This error would have made the Paypal option inaccessible for most of today (Friday). In light of this, the deadline for Paypal payments has been extended to 11 pm. (12 Nov 2004)

Joining the Convention

Joining the convention is easy. Just download an application form, which you can find in the Joining P-Con section. The rates at present are €20 for full membership and €10 for supporting membership, and there are more details available in the Joining P-Con section.

News about the Convention

As well as news updates on the website, you can follow the progress of the convention by subscribing to the P-Con Newsletter, which will give you the news, both good and bad, about the convention. To subscribe to the P-Con Newsletter, just fill in the form on the Newsletter Section and hit the "Subscribe" button.

The Venue

The Ashling Hotel, site of the convention is an old-fashioned but well appointed hotel, conveniently situated a few minutes from the city centre. It is readily accessible by public and private transport without having to go through the city centre and, by the time of the convention, will be right beside a LUAS stop. More details on how to get to the hotel are available in the Travel section.

The hotel is kindly offering special rates to anyone who will staying in the hotel during the convention, and more details are available in the Accommodation section.

The website will be kept as up to date as humanly, and humanely, possible, and new sections will be added on an ongoing basis.
