Steve Westcott is originally from the Wirral (which is on the west coast of England, between Liverpool and Wales), where he was born in the remarkably good year of 1959, a year that he shares with both Kim Newman and P-CON’s chairman.

He now resides on the Isle of Man, having moved there in 1994 to escape the rat-race that was the mainland. Although it’s only a 37 by 15 mile slab of rock, he loves it there, and now part owns a small damp-proof and timber preservation company, which keeps him busy during the daytime. Otherwise, he tries to divide his time between renovating their old farmhouse home (along with his wife Carole and their two children, Samantha and Michael), and writing.

Although he has only been writing for the past six years, he has one book published, and the next two, Bruvvers in Arms and Cronan, in various stages of publication, to come out next year and the year after. His first book, Reluctant Heroes, has already received some rave reviews, with Lee Justice of Alien Online giving it a particularly fine commendation.

Remarkably, he wrote his first book, Reluctant Heroes, as the result of a bet with his wife. It is very much a humorous fantasy. According to the author, "It is a spoof on heroic questing and is about five unlikely companions finding and obtaining three missing seals that have been stolen from a sorcerer’s prison. On their travels, the companions get involved in some serious mayhem, mostly of their own making."

Steve is a complete newcomer to con-going, having only been to one previous one before P-CON, which was the British Fantasy Society do in London last year, so you’re all to be extra nice to him!
