Travel to P-Con

Getting to P-Con: Where is it?

Wynn's Hotel, known to many as a regular venue for things science-fictional, is on Lower Abbey Street, right at the heart of the city of Dublin, being only yards from what is regarded as the absolute centre of the city.

Getting to P-Con: Air or Boat

There are numerous budget and other airline services to Dublin Airport. The obvious examples are Ryanair, Aer Lingus and BMA.

Flights, in general, arrive at Dublin Airport, which is served by a shuttle bus service that will bring you to the city centre.

Something to bear in mind however is that Dublin Airport, unlike airports of other capital cities, is quite close to the city so taxi fares and public transport are affordable.

There are also a number of ferry services to Dublin from Britain. More information about these can be found at:
Stena
P & O Irish Sea
Irish Ferries
Seacat

Getting to P-Con: Bus Travel

If you are travelling by bus to the convention from outside Dublin, the hotel is only five minutes walk from Busaras, the main terminus for long-distance bus travel in Dublin.

If travelling from somewhere in Dublin, the hotel, of course, is only a few minutes walk from a bus stop of any service that passes through the city centre.

Obviously we can't cover all the services in detail here, as the numbers run into the hundreds, so you can find more information about long-distance bus services at the Bus Éireann website and more details of local bus services at the Dublin Bus website.

Getting to P-Con: Rail Travel

In much the same way as, the hotel is very conveniently located for inter-city and light rail travellers. The hotel itself is beside a LUAS stop - LUAS being Dublin's new light rail/tram system. More details of times of LUAS services are on the LUAS website.

The hotel is also with in walking distance of Connolly Station - also known to those long in the tooth as Amiens Street-, which is the railway station serving the North and North-West of Ireland. Rail Services from Belfast and North-West arrive and depart from here.

Connolly Station is also a stop on the DART (Dublin Area Rapid Transit service) and Northern Suburban lines. The DART service runs between Malahide to the North of Dublin and Greystones to the South. The suburban services from Connolly Station serve as far as Dundalk to the North and Maynooth to the North-West.

If you are coming by rail from the West, South-West or South of Ireland. rail services - including suburban services from Kildare, for example - arrive at Heuston Station, which, although being two miles or so from Wynn's Hotel, is on the red LUAS line, which has a stop directly outside the Hotel. Alternatively, there is a shuttle bus service that will bring you into the City Centre.

Rail services from the South-East arrive at Pearse Station, and if you wish, you can use the DART service to bring you to Connolly Station and then walk the last hundred yards.

More information about the Inter-City rail services and suburban services can be found at the Irish Rail website, with LUAS time and route information on the LUAS website and DART service information on the DART website.
