Guest Profile: Peter Morwood

Peter MorwoodPeter Morwood was born in Lisburn, County Antrim, which is in Northern Ireland, in the middle fifties. He attended Queen's University, Belfast, where he became a member of the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve.

His first novel, The Horse Lord was published in 1983, and, after a few more books, he resigned from his position with Her Majesty's Customs & Excise in 1986, and moved to Los Angeles. It was not long after this that he met fellow author Diane Duane (after a little nudge in the right direction from Anne McCaffrey, apparently), and they were married in 1987.

Peter has continued to write, and has 10 novels to his credit to date. He also writes screenplays for animation, having written episodes of Spider-Man Unlimited, Gargoyles and Batman, the Animated Series, amongst much else. He has also co-written another six books with his wife Diane, as well as having various other projects maturing nicely. His books have been translated into German, Japanese, Italian and Swedish, a number of which languages Peter is fluent in.

Peter now lives, along with Diane, in the wilds of County Wicklow, a county much favoured by science fiction and fantasy writers, it seems. When not travelling, a passion shared by both of them, they occasionally make forays into Dublin City, where they are often to be found eating sushi in Aya on Clarendon Street, whilst Peter tries out his Japanese on the waitresses.

Peter is one of the best and liveliest con guests there is, and we are delighted to have him at ours.

We are already getting ready for P-Con V next year. We haven’t quite pinned down the date, although it will be in the Spring of 2008, but we have confirmed our next Guest of Honour.

We are delighted to announce that the Guest of Honour for P-Con V will be Catie Murphy.
