Guest Profile: Michael Carroll

Image of Michael CarrollMichael Carroll is the author of several novels (for both young adults and old adults), and dozens of short stories, as well as hundreds of articles, reviews and interviews.

Born in Dublin, Ireland in March 1966, Michael has been writing since 1990 when his first published story The Hummingbirds appeared in FTL magazine. Since then, there has been no stopping him.

He is married to the charming Leonia and share their home with a large number of cats.

For the Young Adult market, he has written the Pelicos Trilogy (consisting of The Last Starship, Reclaiming the Earth and The Dead Colony), Moonlight, She Fades Away and Renegade. For the adult market there’s a science fiction novel called The Throwback. Also there are four romance novels written under the name Jaye Carroll.

His latest book, Sakkara is the second book in The New Heroes series, was published in October 2006, with the third book Absolute Power due in July 2007. You can find out more about this series on the Quantum Prophecy website.

A regular at sci-fi conventions from all aspects (member, guest and organising) he is well known for his wit and sense of humour. In fact he’s one of the few who can outtalk me. I’ve know Michael for several years now. As well as being a prolific writer, he is a raconteur, and a great friend.

It’s a great pleasure to have Michael as a guest at P-Con IV.

P-Con IV is over and we would like to thank everyone: our Guest of Honour, Kim Newman, all our guests and everyone who came to the convention for making it a great weekend.

We are already getting ready for P-Con V next year. We haven’t quite pinned down the date, although it will be in the Spring of 2008, but we have confirmed our next Guest of Honour.

We are delighted to announce that the Guest of Honour for P-Con V will be Catie Murphy.
