Portadown-based Northern Ireland SF author Darryl Sloan has dropped me a note to tell me that his new book, Chion, a young adult SF novel, was published in January 2007, and is available for purchase through his website.
There is an MP3 excerpt from the book available on his site, and I’ve hopefully copied the link correctly here:
Daryl Sloan has one previous book, Ulterior, which was published in 2002.

The Aeon Award for 2006-2007, brought to you by the wonderful people at Albedo One, is still open for submissions.
The Aeon Award short story competition is designed to promote new writers by raising their profile. But a prize of €1000 for the winner and publication in Ireland’s premier magazine of SF&F for the top three stories – as chosen by renowned SF and fantasy author Ian Watson – doesn’t do any harm either.
The winner will be announced at the upcoming, high profile European Science Fiction Convention in Copenhagen in September 2007. The entry fee is €5 and the contest is open until the end of June next.

It’s less than 40 days to the next P-Con. This year’s Phoenix Convention, the fourth, will be held in Wynn’s Hotel on Abbey Street in Dublin over the weekend of the 10th and 11th of March next.
