Warning: date() [function.date]: It is not safe to rely on the system's timezone settings. You are *required* to use the date.timezone setting or the date_default_timezone_set() function. In case you used any of those methods and you are still getting this warning, you most likely misspelled the timezone identifier. Brian Kelly, who co-runs the Dublin Toy and Train Fair, writes to tell me that they have now established their dates for 2006. This fair has been running four times a year in various Dublin hotels for as long as I can remember, first in the Victor Hotel in Sallynoggin, then in the Royal Marine Hotel in Dun Laoghaire, and now in the Clontarf Castle Hotel in Clontarf.
Dealers come to the fairs from all over Ireland and the UK, and even from as far afield as Lithuania and the Czech Republic, and cover the entire field of collectable toys and models, from dolls’ house furniture to die cast models, taking in Steiff teddy bears, Meccano construction sets, and Hornby trains, as well as lead soldiers, jigsaws and old TV annuals along the way. More information about all this can be found on their website.
By the way, those of you interested in old buses could do worse than have a look at Barry Millar’s Dublin Buses website.
The dates for the fairs for 2006 are as follows:
5th February 2006
21st May 2006
17th September 2006
19th November 2006
All fairs are on Sundays from 10 AM to 5 PM in the Clontarf Castle Hotel.
