Links & Banner Adverts

The Irish SF News will be happy to consider the inclusion of a banner to promote your event or publication or whatever you have to share with the world. There are a few guidelines of course.

  • The event or publication should be at least vaguely in the realms of science fiction, fantasy or horror although we will consider all submissions.
  • The event or publication in question should preferably be based in Ireland or Britain, although again we are happy to consider submissions from other places. The only reason we would tend towards having this as a guideline is to try to keep the number of links and banners at a reasonable level. (See note below for the reasoning behind that.)
  • For the sake of the webmaster's sanity, we reserve the right to put a limit on the number of banner adverts on the site if it starts to get out of hand.
  • Another guideline, that again is flexible, is that the event or publication should be non-profit. However, let's say that we might be less flexible on this than on other guidelines. After all, we don't get paid for this service.
  • And following on from the last item, you may have gathered that links and banners are of course inserted free of charge.
  • If you want a banner ad included, DO try to keep the file size at a minimum. The webmaster gets peevish when he has to include a banner that has a file size bigger than that of whole of the rest of page.
  • He also gets peevish when he visits a site that tries to install spyware, so let's not try his patience. But then again, do you really think that a website that does that would actually endear you to anyone?
  • Generally you have to provide the banner yourself. That's another webmaster's sanity issue.
  • Good taste is a virtue, or at least it is in this case.
  • Don't send in banners without dropping us a line first. You can use the form on the top of the page.
  • Please allow a day or two for it to be included.

All links and banners are included at the discretion of ISFN. We can refuse a banner without explaining why. Oh all right, so the chances are that we will tell you, of course, but we don't have to.
