Welcome to the Irish Sci-Fi News
If this is your first visit to the Irish Sci-Fi news website, welcome.
Those of you who haven't visited the Irish Sci-Fi News website recently may have noticed a few changes. We are in the middle of restructuring the site and this process will be ongoing for a few weeks. (Which is also the explanation for some of the sections of the site still being in the old format, but that will be fixed soon.)
News!
If you are looking for the latest news, that's now in the News Section.
If you are already getting the Irish Sci-Fi News by e-mail - (and at last count, that was almost 300 of you) -, fear not. The e-mail version will still be sent to you on a regular basis.
However, as news has a habit of happening between newsletters, we are also going to be posting stories to the website between editions of the newsletters. So the latest news is now available in our News Section, where you will also find archived stories.
The latest stories include:
We also have an RSS feed of the stories appearing on the site. Check the RSS section on the right of each page for more details. If you haven't the faintest idea of what we are talking about, check out our What is RSS? page.
Links!
The new Links section is online. This section is updated regularly, so if a section isn't available now, you should check back soon. The Links Section contains (or will contain) links to other genre related sites in Ireland and beyond and includes links to news websites, convention websites (science fiction, fantasy, gaming and comics conventions), meetings, resources, magazines and anything else we can think of.
At present, the links section includes:
- Comic Shops in Ireland
- Irish Meetings and Societies
- Conventions
- Irish Science Fiction Resources
- International News
- Irish Comics
- Blogs and Personal Sites
- Irish Authors
So what is the Irish Sci-Fi News?
The Irish Sci-Fi News was, and still is, an e-mail newsletter covering the latest science fiction, fantasy, horror and comics news from Ireland and beyond. Conventions, bookshops, meetings and authors are covered and we aren't afraid of pure trivia and idle gossip if we need to fill a few pages. The newsletter comes out every . . . . . ; well, the truth is that it comes out on an irregular basis, but roughly once every month or two.
The website was originally just an archive for the newsletter, although it has expanded in the last three years to include some feature articles and reviews. We are planning to add new reviews and features more frequently in the future.
The latest newsletter is normally available on the site within a few days of the publication of the e-mail version. If you want to see older newsletters, check the Archives section. But if you are looking for the latest news, check the News Section.
The Features Section has at the moment articles on gaming, the sci-fi shopping scene in Dublin, the Society for Creative Anachronism and comics.
Subscribing to the e-mail newsletter is as simple as filling in the form on the right and pushing the button. You don't have to include your name, although including your e-mail address is, of course, necessary.
It's free, and we won't be passing on your e-mail address to anyone. Your address will only be used for the Irish Sci-Fi News.
